Who We Are

Banister Homes is a Charlotte-based custom home builder and remodeler that specializes in infill and historic renovations or new houses, energy efficiency upgrades and audits, and green/sustainable homes. Owners Rod Spence and Ken Smith established the general contracting firm in 1999. We take pride in projects that fit seamlessly into historic neighborhoods while keeping the modern conveniences that make homes livable today.

What We Do

Banister Homes has built new homes and transformed existing ones in many established Charlotte neighborhoods, including Dilworth, Elizabeth, Myers Park, Plaza Midwood, and Cotswold. As a certified Green Builder in the North Carolina Solar Center Healthy Built Homes program, we build EnergyStar and certified North Carolina Healthy-Built homes. We are committed to building LEED homes and completed Charlotte's first LEED Certified Home, a new home in historic Dilworth.
